Just for Fun - June 2025
It's already June. Life is good, but busy. I haven't gotten around to writing. I do have some fun topics to ramble about.
Towards the end of May, I picked up two Linux magazines from my local Microcenter. Linux Format and Linux Magazine are their names. They have been really enjoyable to read. It's been nice to get some exposure to different Linux news sources, projects, distros, and programs. It's given me some ideas for new projects, and tools to checkout. I will try to pick up the next issue soon.

I have been continuing my learning of Clojure and LISP. I find LISP to be very interesting with a rich, and long history. Clojure has been a cool way to explore it while being familiar with the JVM ecosystem. I completed the book Clojure for the Brave and True, and followed the examples. It was a good book. I feel more comfortable looking at Clojure code bases after reading it. I still have a way to go to better understand the language, and build bigger projects. This book has been a great start for that. The author did a great job with this book. The writing is funny, and down right goofy at times. I love it. After reading so many dry programming books, it is nice to read a book that is funny, and a bit goofy. Hard to do for teaching software, and maybe something we can use more of.
Something I have been thinking about doing is moving my code from GitHub to a self-hosted service such as Gitea with a mirror to Codeberg. I have enjoyed GitHub, but it's time to broaden my skills, and learn something new. I think there is a lot of gain with learning how to setup this service, and better understand Git from a server side. The mirroring will be helpful for redundancy in case I goof up big time. We will have to wait and see if I get around to doing this.
It's been a fun month or two since my last update. I will try to make time to do more. Until I do... I am going to keep tinkering for fun.
